Biofoundries are infrastructures dedicated to automated and high throughput construction and testing of biological systems. These facilities use advanced technologies and methods such as robotics, high-throughput imaging and artificial intelligence to design, build, and test biological systems at scale. Paris Biofoundry is a multi-site platform in Paris region which will engineer not only bacteria and yeast but also microalgae, mammalian cells and cell-free systems. It will soon be opened to academic and industrial partners and will give access to cutting-edge technologies to accelerate basic, translational and applied research. This distributed biofoundry will accelerate the structuring of the bioengineering sector and will be a driver of innovation. Paris Biofoundry will develop and distribute to the community new tools, methods and processes to accelerate fundamental and applied synthetic biology. This will notably include new technologies, new DNA parts but also automated and AI-driven engineering methods.
